Promoting The Beauty Of Catholic Culture In A Secular World

About this Blog

The Candid Catholic is a faith-inspired lifestyle blog that highlights the beauty and traditions of Catholicism.

In October of 2018, Gabriela started The Candid Catholic on Instagram as a place where she could share her Faith journey and help evangelize for the Church through social media.

The Candid Catholic covers topics ranging from domestic life including homemaking, femininity and marriage; to interesting stories and lessons about the saints, feast days, and Catholic traditions.

With the purpose of inspiring and encouraging others in their walk with Christ, this blog is an intentional space that fosters authenticity and accountability in the context of everyday contemporary life.

We have only short moments of this life to work for Godโ€™s glory. The devil knows this and that is why he tries to make us waste time in useless things. O, let us not waste our time! Let us save souls!

Meet the Author

Gabriela, The Candid Catholic

My name is Gabriela โ€“ Iโ€™m a wife, stay-at-home mom, and homemaker with a deep love for Christ and His Bride, the Holy Catholic Church. I hope to inspire and encourage fellow Catholics to seek Christ and live out their lives for Him.

I am a cradle Catholic, which for me meant that I always had an active faith growing up. However, my understanding of the Church’s teachings was very basic, and it wasn’t until my college years that I began to realize it. I had a very loving and supportive group of Catholic friends in college, all of whom have a special place in my heart. They encouraged me to explore the Faith and foster a deeper relationship with Christ. In my sophomore year of college, I started an Instagram blog where I share my inspirations and experiences as a Catholic woman.

It was also in college where I met my husband, Mark. He had stopped by the University’s Catholic center for Mass on the feast of the Assumption of Mary. We quickly became friends and soon began our courtship. Fast forward to today, we are married and raising our toddler boy and baby girl on a little homestead in the countryside.

During our engagement, Mark introduced me to the Traditional Latin Mass. My eyes were opened to the beauty and reverence for Our Lord in the Eucharist. To think that many of the Church’s greatest saints once worshiped in this way was nothing short of amazing. Ever since then, I’ve become passionate about the traditions of our Catholic heritage.

After nearly a year into our marriage, and a year and a half of working full time as a pediatric neurology nurse, I quit my career to embrace my vocation as stay-at-home mom. This has been a blessing for our family, which continues to teach me the importance of raising up the next generation in the Faith.

Thank you for checking out my blog! I hope you find it inspiring and encouraging in your own Faith journey.

God bless!

– Gabriela

We prayed to Our Lady of La Leche in our uncertainty, asking for her intercession, that if God allowed us the grace to carry to term, have a healthy baby & a safe delivery, & that I could hold our baby in my arms to nurse, we would make a pilgrimage to this shrine in thanksgiving.
Unfortunately, we did not receive this consolation.
Our little Avila Vianney stopped growing in my womb at just 6 weeks ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿผ
We were devastated.
But my dream of seeing this place never left.
During our vacation in St. Augustine this past April/May, my husband Mark surprised me with this visit, not telling me where we were going at first, & as we got closer & I read the sign to the Mission, my heart swelled with such joy & excitement, happy tears filling my eyes ๐Ÿฅน
It was a little bittersweet, thinking of our sweet Avila Vianney, but to come pray here in thanksgiving for the gift of a new pregnancy, everything came full circle.
Holding our baby boy in my arms & carrying our rainbow baby in my womb, entrusting them to the care of our Mother Mary, I never felt so fulfilled as a woman, & so blessed as a Mama.

Scroll to the end to see the stunning statue we bought at the Shrine & how we decorated it, placing it in a prominent place on the wall in our birth room, in anticipation of our beautiful homebirth (canโ€™t wait to share those details with you soon! ๐Ÿฅน)

Our Lady of La Leche, pray for us ๐Ÿคฑ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‘
Happy feast day! ๐Ÿค

I had been wanting to visit this shrine for years - the beauty & peace surrounding this place had been calling to my heart for some time ๐Ÿค
More especially last year when we found out we might be experiencing a missed miscarriage.

๐Ÿฅน)

I had been wanting to visit this shrine for years - the beauty & peace surrounding this place had been calling to my heart for some time ๐Ÿค
More especially last year when we found out we might be experiencing a missed miscarriage.

Scroll to the end to see the stunning statue we bought at the Shrine & how we decorated it, placing it in a prominent place on the wall in our birth room, in anticipation of our beautiful homebirth (canโ€™t wait to share those details with you soon! ๐Ÿฅน) Our Lady of La Leche, pray for us ๐Ÿคฑ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‘ Happy feast day! ๐Ÿค #thecandidcatholic P.S. Check out that 12th photo I took as a peacock followed this priest through the gates towards the Shrine - Mark said โ€œhurry, take a picture!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฆš
